Grounded in empowerment, the BCTO Collective values mindful, functional movement. We aim to uplift the community through our collective strengths for continuous growth with your health and wellness goals.

The Toronto Barre Collective is a place where community can gather to safely navigate their health and wellness goals with support and comfort. Using a mindful physical movement approach, we aim to create connection and transform the understanding of what it can mean to be in good health.

Our mission

Our mission is to change the face of the fitness, health and wellness community to include, prioritize, and normalize all people regardless of age, gender, sexual identity, race or body type for representation.

BCTO was born out of the desire to keep the community together during the pandemic that had shifted our ability to stay connected. Our talented and educated team values mindful, functional movement, and we focus on education that addresses the WHY behind the movement. We encourage every client to embrace and choose how they show up and move through each class, while celebrating their own progressions and achievements. By acknowledging the language, phrasing and problematic colonial history of barre and all movement modalities we offer, we are working to change the narrative and create a safer space. We hope all people regardless of race, age, identity, gender, or body type feel at home with the BCTO Collective.

FAQs

  • Barre classes are designed to mobilize and strengthen your body using the ballet barre as an assistant and alignment tool. These classes offer functional movement with mobility training through dynamic movement sequences. Integrating breath and mindful movement to music creates a full body workout blending dance, pilates, yoga and strength training. No previous dance knowledge or training required.

  • We offer a post lineage yoga practice suitable for all levels. While our teachers do have foundations in Hatha, Vinyasa, Koundlini and Yin trainings, each instructors class is their unique offering.
